Starsmith Pilates will help you reach new levels of fitness with private lessons in Pilates Exercises and Pilates Teacher Tutoring

  • We provide gentle Pilates to beginners.  Jackie will tailor a specialized workout just for you.  No matter your level of fitness, she will find the right combination that will help you build strength, flexibility, and stamina.  Reiki Therapy is offered to those seeking the energy work of Reiki healing with no movement at all.

  • If you already exercise, Jackie will prepare workouts of Pilates exercises that will take you to new levels of strength and flexibility that will meet, and exceed, your hopes for improved fitness.

  • Pilates Teacher Training Students  will receive free Pilates lessons in the BASI format and low cost tutoring for the Written Exams, editorial help on the Final Paper, and specialized, intensive practice sessions for the Practical Exams for Mid-term, Final, and Teacher Certification

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of over 500 controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body. It is a balanced blend of strength and flexibility training that improves posture, reduces stress and creates long, lean muscles without bulking up. Pilates works several muscle groups simultaneously through smooth, continuous motion, with a particular concentration on strengthening and stabilizing the core (the abdomen, back and pelvic girdle region, sometimes referred to as the "powerhouse").

History
There are several variations of Pilates principles, ranging from those that Joseph Pilates pioneered in the early 1900s to contemporary adaptations that incorporate modern understanding of fitness, anatomy and biomechanics.

Jackie is trained in the contemporary form of Pilates through Body Arts and Sciences International (BASI).  This ensures that the most up-to-date thought and practice is used in designing your personal training program, based on your current condition.
